SUPERDOGS UP FOR AUCTION?
- - - ABBOTSFORD, B.C., OCTOBER 12, 2006- - - Well no, not really, but they are performing at the 14th Annual 'Silence is Golden' silent auction. The event runs from 6 - 10pm at the Best Western Regency Inn and Conference Center at 32110 Marshall Road. The Superdogs are scheduled for 7pm with a possible encore if time allows.
The evening involves a variety of entertainment, refreshments and games. Hot air balloon rides with Governor Dianne Warnick, Canine Poker, Feline Roulette, treasure hunts, and ball toss competitions are just some of the events planned.
Silence is Golden. At least it can create gold—or green as the case may be. Whichever color the money is, the Abbotsford SPCA needs community support to continue caring for the 18,000 animals which come through their doors each year. This silent auction event is just one way of raising the funds required.
"This event really brings out the best in our community. No matter the age, ethnicity or financial position, everyone has a great time. This year we have some fabulous items donated. The Best Western Corporation has donated a seven (7) night stay, including daily breakfast, at any Best Western in North America," Senior Community Liaison Officer, Sheila Satel stated.
Stray animals are only one part of the many SPCA services. The shelter also provides spaying/neutering services, animal rescue, school educational programs, and personnel training programs. Enhancing community awareness of the society's goals an developing open and friendly communication with the public is a very real benefit of the auction; so head down to the Best Western Regency Inn and Conference Center at 32110 Marshall Road, Abbotsford.
Tickets are $15 each and are available at the SPCA office (7452 McGill), any Save-On Foods, Pharmasave, IGA, the library, and many other businesses around town.
Call the SPCA at 604-604-SPCA (604-604-7722) for more information or to donate to the cause.
