Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast

Burnaby Writers Society
Founded in 1967 under the sponsorship of the Burnaby Arts Council, the Burnaby Writers Society is one of the oldest and best-known writers' groups in B.C. The initial group of 22 Burnaby writers has grown into a broad-based organization drawing its membership from across the Lower Mainland and other parts of the province. In 1972, the club became a registered non-profit society, and shortly thereafter was registered federally as a charitable organization.   The Grind Writers' Group (Vancouver)
A friendly and focused group for published and unpublished writers, all genres. Meets monthly at the Grind Coffee Cafe, 4124 Main Street, Vancouver (on the East side of Main Street, a few doors south of King Edward Ave., aka 25th Ave) -- in the back room -- whoever gets there first grabs a few tables, or one of the big ones up on the platform... Bring pen & paper--we get right down to writing in the first half hour. The Grind is also laptop friendly. Time is always 10 am to noon; some people stay on afterwards and work on their projects. All skill and experience levels welcome. Prose, poetry, creative nonfiction, memoir, journaling, whatever makes you pick up the pen. For more information, contact Margo at wonderwords@shaw.ca  ("Occasionally they do move the venue, so if you're new it's a good idea to email Margo before you attend the first time.")
